Wuthering Waves 3.7 Hsin build retrospective: I rolled substats first, burned two rounds of Echoes, and here's where the order went wrong
Wuthering Waves 3.7 Hsin build, as a retrospective. Three mistakes: rolling substats before the set was complete, picking a Tacet Field by distance instead of by drops, and treating the signature weapon as an entry ticket. Then the correct order, plus sources at the bottom.

Wuthering Waves 3.7 Hsin: what I actually did first
Hsin is one of two 5-star Resonators added in 3.7, a Spectro-conduction damage dealer on the Rectifier, obtained through the "Though Tonight We Linger" character Convene. I pulled on day one and went straight to rerolling every Echo I had.
Step one: reroll substats
My reasoning at the time was simple: substats decide damage, so rolling them early pays off early. So I walked through all five Echoes, kept the ATK and conductive damage lines, and fed the rest back as material.
Step two: pick whichever Tacet Field was closest
3.7 added two new Tacet Fields, Chenxin Domain and Jinxin Domain. I picked the one nearest my save point and farmed it for two days.
Step three: treat the signature weapon as mandatory
Since "Jade Mystery" is the 5-star Rectifier offered in its own weapon Convene, I assumed the build was pointless without it, so I stopped spending on levels and started saving for the weapon banner.

Wuthering Waves 3.7 Hsin retrospective: three separate mistakes
Looking back, all three moves were wrong, and they were wrong in different ways.
Mistake one: the order was backwards
A Sonata effect only activates when the 5-piece set is complete. Until then, even a perfect substat roll only applies to the single Echo it sits on, and the set portion of the bonus stays at zero.
Mistake two: I picked the field by the wrong axis
I chose a Tacet Field by distance and never checked what it drops. The three new 5-piece Sonata sets in 3.7 are Gilded Dream of the Reviving Heart, Mirror Image of Crackling Lightning, and Rosy Reminiscence. Which field you farm decides whether you can complete the set you want at all.
Mistake three: I turned an upgrade into a gate
The 5-star Rectifier Jade Mystery is a gain, not a ticket in. I put my leveling resources on hold for two days waiting on it, and those two days could have gone into levels and talents.
Wuthering Waves 3.7 Hsin, lesson one: don't touch substats before the set is done
This is the expensive one. Here's the reason you finish the set first: set bonuses activate by piece count, and while the count is short, whatever you roll only lands on individual Echoes.
The test is one line long
Open the Echo screen and look at the Sonata row. If it's grey, stop rolling and go farm the two pieces you're missing. Talk about substats once it lights up.
Getting it wrong costs you twice
Once when you roll, and again when the set is finally complete and the substats you kept point the wrong way, which means another full reroll.

uthering Waves 3.7 Hsin, lesson two: pick a Tacet Field by drops, not distance
It took me two days to notice the field I chose doesn't drop the set I wanted. Those two days bought generic materials and nothing else.
Decide the set first, then the field
Each of the three new 5-piece sets comes from different content. Settle the set first, then farm the matching field. Don't flip that order.
Don't forget the new Fallacy cluster
3.7 also added the Mengshu Tianluo Fallacy cluster. When a field won't cough up the pieces you need, the cluster covers the gap, so don't stare at one field.
The Echo recommendation now shows modality fit
3.7 improved the Echo recommendation feature with resonance modality fit information. Check that hint before picking a set; it's faster than reading substats line by line.
Wuthering Waves 3.7 Hsin, lesson three: the signature weapon isn't entry-level kit
After two days on hold I worked out that pushing levels pays out daily, while the signature weapon is a bonus. Miss it and a same-type downgrade carries you through the leveling phase.
When a downgrade weapon works
Any Rectifier will do. The test: the main stat matches and the substats aren't all dead. That's enough to get through leveling.
When waiting is actually right
Only one case. If your levels and talents are maxed and the remaining sources of gain are mostly exhausted, then holding out for the signature is worth it.

Wuthering Waves 3.7 Hsin: the order I'd use starting over
Put the three moves in sequence and every mistake above disappears.
First: complete the 5-piece set
Don't worry about substat quality; light the Sonata up first. This step decides whether everything after it has anything to work on.
Second: roll substats
Only after the set is lit. This is the step that actually separates one build from another.
Third: levels and talents first, weapon last
Send your resources to levels and talents. Save the signature weapon for last, swap it in if you pull it, otherwise let a downgrade hold the slot.
Wuthering Waves 3.7 Hsin: questions after the retrospective (FAQ)
Is Hsin worth pulling?
A: Worth it if your roster is short a conductive main DPS and you can complete a 5-piece set. She comes from the "Though Tonight We Linger" character Convene .
Do I have to pull her signature weapon?
A: No. The 5-star Rectifier Jade Mystery is a bonus, not a prerequisite; a same-type downgrade covers the leveling phase.
Suoming or Hsin first?
A: Hsin first. She's the conductive main DPS and has priority when you lack damage; Suoming is a 5-star conductive Broadblade on a different track.
Where do the new 3.7 Echoes drop?
A: The two new Tacet Fields, Chenxin Domain and Jinxin Domain, plus the new Mengshu Tianluo Fallacy cluster. All 5 new Echoes and the new COST 4 Echo drop there
Can I roll substats before finishing the 5-piece set?
A: No. The set bonus doesn't apply while the set is inactive, so waiting for all 5 pieces saves you an entire round of materials.

Pushing towers first, then field bosses, then the World Tree saves the most time.
