4.0.0 "Reveries at the Gate" (server maintenance on 2026-09-24; the official site's current-version field matches the patch notice).
This guide covers the split between the two new 6-stars, the exact Insight III bill and what it converts to in Activity, the three new 6-star Psychubes and which one you actually take first, three team shells, and how to spend the free 40 pulls. Every number carries a source tier, and anything calculated rather than stated is marked as a community estimate.
Ten-second version first, details below.
| Question | Answer | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Who first? | Lilya if your Star line is empty, Drake if your Beast line is | The deep-sleep rotation opening October 16 runs Mineral and Plant afflatus |
| Insight III bill | 258,000 Sharpodonty, 32 affinity materials, 24–30 ascension drops | Stage-by-stage totals |
| Time cost | 8–10 days of natural regen | 240 Activity/day, 20 per run |
| Psychube | Take the free "Knowing as One" first, hold Caskets until after October 15 | Free from Coastline Gleanings; "Fated Backs" enters the shop on 2026-10-15 |
| Pull or skip? | Pull only if you have a Star or Beast hole; save if both lines clear | 40 free pulls plus the guaranteed-new 6-star already covers much of a soft pity |
Reverse: 1999 4.0 at a Glance: Chapter 14 and Two New Mini-Games
Patch 4.0 is the anniversary-cruise version: the main story reaches Chapter 14 "Reveries at the Gate" plus a side chapter, "Ship Allegory", and the servers went down on September 24 from 05:00 to 10:00 . It was a forced update — iOS players had to re-download from the App Store, Android players updated through the in-game prompt. If you could not log in before 10:00, that was the maintenance, not your connection.
Compensation came in three parts: 240 Clear Drop plus one Activity canister for the downtime, 60 Clear Drop plus another canister for the extended window, and 180 Clear Drop for the post-patch fixes . That is 480 Clear Drop and two canisters worth 120 Activity each. All three mails expire when 4.0 ends, so the usual habit of hoarding mail costs you here.
What to do on patch day
Claim the compensation mail first, push the main story until the event entrances unlock, then claim the 40 login pulls. Doing it backwards is how people waste the ten-pull ticket: it is locked to the current banner, and if you have not decided whether you need Star or Beast yet, you are guessing with a free ticket.
Which freebies actually matter
Six items need no investment at all: 40 login pulls , a guaranteed-new 6-star, a selector for a 6-star Euphoria character, the "Strongest Note" outfit for Regulus, the anniversary jukebox, and 500 Clear Drop from the Night of Refrains event . Only the first two convert into combat power; the rest are cosmetics and long-tail materials.
The two mini-games are "Friday the Mallow" and "Little Monster Domino Chess". The first is a match-the-crates board where you clear same-colour goods to shoo off troublemaking mallows; the second is a board where you place mallow pieces and settle it in the box . Both pay Clear Drop and ascension materials, but the time cost is different: the crate board fits into a bus ride, the chess board wants two moves of thinking.
Lilya vs Drake: Which New 6-Star Fills Your Gap
Huntsworn Lilya is the Star 6-star, Drake is the Beast 6-star, and Glyndŵr is the 4-star Beast — the three are positional fillers, not replacements for each other . Two DPS units of different afflatus cannot cover for one another, and that is the single most common mistake in pull decisions.

Star vs Beast, and why it is not a swap
The afflatus cycle runs Beast beats Plant, Plant beats Star, Star beats Mineral, Mineral beats Beast. The deep-sleep rotation that opened on October 16 lists Mineral and Plant, so Star covers one half and Beast covers the other — the two new units split the stage cleanly . The November 1 rotation goes back to mixed afflatus, and the split stops mattering as much.
Where Glyndŵr fits
Glyndŵr is a stopgap for a four-unit Beast team and not much else. A 4-star caps at Insight II, so both the stat curve and skill levels sit a tier lower; once Drake is on the account, further investment in Glyndŵr is dead material .
Drake sits in the limited banner tier. The 4.0 event list shows two new banners, the cruise-limited "Steadfast Pilot" and the event banner "Fire of Existence", and the maintenance notice does not say which character sits in which . Check the in-game banner page for the mapping and the end date instead of trusting a reposted guide.
Reverse: 1999 Build Order: Insight Before Resonance, Resonance Stops at 10
Most Reverse 1999 build order questions have the same answer: Insight first, then Psychube, then Resonance. The reason is boring but real — Insight sets the character's ceiling, while Resonance is a percentage layer that pays worst early. The classic 4.0 mistake is treating Resonance like a level bar — push it to 8 and watch your damage barely move.
Does Insight wipe your levels?
Insight does not reset your levels and make you re-grind; it raises the level cap by 10 and steps the base stats up a tier, so a level 1 Insight II character out-stats a level 30 Insight I one (Fandom Insight page, dotgg's Insight guide — third-party testing). That is why you Insight immediately at the level 30 wall instead of stockpiling EXP.
Why resonance stops at 10
Resonance caps go 5, then 10, then 15, and every cap raise forces a re-arrangement. Stopping at 10 is the standard call because the 10-to-15 material curve jumps sharply while the payoff stays a linear percentage . The free-to-play finish line is Insight III level 30 plus Resonance 10; past that you are buying materials with materials. The official coefficient for Resonance 15 has not been published, so treat the marginal-gain claim as a community estimate.
Where the Psychube fits
Psychubes do not consume Insight materials, so the two tracks run in parallel. Amplification does cost Caskets, though, which is why you finish Insight III and claim the free Psychube before amplifying anything.

Reverse: 1999 Insight III Cost: 258,000 Sharpodonty, 32 Materials
The bill for one 6-star from zero to Insight III level 30 splits into three lines: 258,000 Sharpodonty, 32 affinity materials, and 24 to 30 ascension drops. Miss any one line and you stall at the finish.
The full material table
| Stage | Sharpodonty | Affinity materials | Ascension drops | Source tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Insight I | 18,000 | 6 pages | 11 | Third party (dotgg, Prydwen) |
| Insight II | 40,000 | 10 scrolls | 10 | Third party (same) |
| Insight III | 200,000 | 16 Tomes | 9–14 | Third party (Fandom Insight table) |
| Total | 258,000 | 32 items | 24–30 | Sum of the three stages |
Ascension drops are afflatus-specific — Star and Beast do not share a list, so do not buy from somebody else's shopping list. The official notice only announces the characters; it publishes no material table, which is why every number above comes from third-party databases checked in October 2026.
Converting it into Activity and days
Twenty-four to thirty ascension drops at a 30% drop rate and 20 Activity per run works out to 80–100 runs, or 1,600–2,000 Activity. Affinity materials and Sharpodonty add another 300–400. The total lands between 1,900 and 2,400 Activity, which divides into 8 to 10 days at 240 a day . Event shops and double-drop weeks can compress it to around 6 days, but that depends on the calendar, not on your plan.
Where do Insight Tomes farm fastest?
Reverse 1999 Insight 3 is gated by ascension drops rather than Tomes: stages 5 and 6 of the Insight material node pay a fixed 2 Tomes on even stages. Tomes are not the bottleneck: those two stages have no daily attempt cap and only charge Activity, so 240 Activity buys 12 runs and 24 Tomes — one day covers the 16 you need.
Ascension drops are the real wall. Prydwen's drop table puts the common 6-star afflatus nodes between 22% and 43%, so at a mid-range rate you are looking at roughly 90 runs for 30 drops. Farm the Tomes in one sitting, then dump every remaining point of Activity into ascension drops instead of nibbling at three nodes a day.
Reverse: 1999 4.0 Psychubes: Three New 6-Stars, Three Sources
Patch 4.0 adds three 6-star Psychubes rather than one: "Standing on the Storm's Ridge", "Fated Backs", and "Knowing as One" . Each arrives through a different door, which is what sets the order.
Grab the free one first
"Knowing as One" is free during the Coastline Gleanings event and costs no Caskets . A free 6-star Psychube in hand is one full exchange budget saved; whether the substats fit your DPS is a separate question you can answer later.
What to spend Crystal Caskets on
"Fated Backs" only enters the Psychube observation shop after 05:00 on October 15 . The exchange conditions have not been published, so emptying your Caskets right now is the worst possible timing. The same shop refresh also adds the 6-star "Dream Beyond Light" and the 5-star "Truth in Adornment", so the competition for your Caskets is not a single item.
Do old Psychubes still work?
They do, if the substats line up. Psychube bonuses sit in a multiplier slot, so an old 6-star with matching afflatus is still usable in 4.0; the new ones simply have substats written for the current mechanics. One test decides it: does this Psychube feed the main damage source of your DPS or not.

Reverse: 1999 4.0 Teams: Three Shells for Three Stage Types
Reverse 1999 4.0 team building needs exactly three shells: Star, Beast, and mixed. Every extra team you maintain costs another slice of materials and another Psychube, and the third one often never sees a stage.
| Team | Line-up | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Star | Lilya + damage amplifier + healer | Mineral enemies, upper half of the current deep-sleep rotation |
| Beast | Drake + damage amplifier + healer | Plant enemies, lower half of the same rotation |
| Mixed | Lilya + Drake + two supports | Daily and material stages with no afflatus requirement |
Mapping the current rotation
The deep-sleep rotation that opened on October 16 runs Mineral and Plant, so Star takes Mineral and Beast takes Plant — do not swap them . The scoring in that mode punishes mismatched afflatus directly; the same investment in the wrong colour is worth one or two stars.
When the mixed team wins
Daily material stages have no afflatus requirement, and the mixed shell is the fastest there because both DPS units rotate through the amplifier. Deep-sleep and the challenge rotation want afflatus splits; running mixed there costs you rating, and saving three minutes is not worth the loss.
Is Lilya or Drake Worth Pulling?
Worth building, not worth emptying your Caskets for. Both are positional 6-stars — the value only lands if they fill the afflatus hole you actually have, and if they do not, you bought an expensive collectible.
Which account should do what
| Your account | Do this | Why |
|---|---|---|
| No Star DPS that clears deep-sleep | Build Lilya, and pull if you can | The upper half of the October 16 rotation is Mineral |
| Beast line is still 4-star | Build Drake before buying any Psychube | Beast covers Plant, and a 4-star caps at Insight II |
| Both lines already clear the rotation | Skip both, bank the pulls | 4.1 details are unannounced; saving has a higher floor than gambling |
When to skip entirely
Skip if you cannot reach one soft pity — the 40 login pulls plus the guaranteed-new 6-star already cover a good chunk of it. Skip if your account is short on supports, because neither unit fills a support slot. Skip hardest if you only want a score bump: deep-sleep scoring reads afflatus matchups, not raw single-card power.

Daily Routine: Fitting the New Systems Into 15 Minutes
Patch 4.0 adds two mini-games and a character-appearance system on top of the 3.x routine, so the daily loop needs re-ordering. The patch notice describes "Rift Wonderland" as a story-expansion system, "Portraits of the Past" as a character-appearance system, and "Thames Silhouette" as an event . Exact rules for all three are still being rolled out in-game, and the official text does not spell them out.
What can wait
Cosmetics can wait; anything that converts into build progress cannot. The rule is mechanical: does the reward change a stat or not. Portraits of the Past hands out past-era looks for 37 and Semmelweis, which is pure appearance — claiming it two weeks late costs you nothing .
- Mail and check-in first, 2 minutes. The 40 pulls arrive in instalments, so a missed day is a missed tier.
- Current event stages next, 6 minutes. Material rewards before cosmetic ones.
- Insight or ascension farming, 5 minutes. Only the character you are building right now.
- Mini-games last, 2 minutes. Enough for the Clear Drop, no more.
Reverse: 1999 4.0 FAQ
Q: Should I build Lilya or Drake first?
A: Check the current rotation's afflatus gap. The October 16 deep-sleep stage runs Mineral and Plant, so build Lilya for Star coverage and Drake for Beast coverage.
Q: How much does Insight III cost in total?
A: 258,000 Sharpodonty, 32 affinity materials (6 pages, 10 scrolls, 16 Tomes), plus 24 to 30 ascension drops.
Q: Where do I farm Tomes fastest?
A: Stages 5 and 6 of the Insight node, with 2 guaranteed Tomes on even stages and no daily cap — 240 Activity gives 24 Tomes.
Q: How many new 6-star Psychubes are there?
A: Three. Standing on the Storm's Ridge from the King's Jubilee banquet exchange, Fated Backs from October 15, and Knowing as One for free.
Q: Who should get the 40 free pulls?
A: Whoever covers your missing afflatus. Star hole goes to Lilya, Beast hole goes to Drake; if both lines clear, hold for 4.1 — its date is unannounced.
Reverse: 1999 4.0 Action Checklist
- Claim all three compensation mails on patch day — 480 Clear Drop and two canisters, expiring when 4.0 ends.
- Read the October 16 rotation, then commit to one of the two 6-stars and only one.
- Farm all 16 Tomes in a single session, then pour the rest of your Activity into ascension drops for 8–10 days.
- Take the free "Knowing as One" Psychube before touching the Casket shop; revisit after October 15.
- Run the daily loop as mail, event stages, farming, mini-games — cosmetics last.

A limited banner's 70-pull soft pity costs 10,500 Diamonds, so the 4,500 Diamond gap is about nine weeks of dailies and weeklies. Yesterday's Sea stages and the Abyssal Cruise banner both shut at 03:59 on October 23, not October 30. From October 18 that leaves five days and roughly 1,200 sanity: clear the YW stages and the Salvage Plan missions for Lugu first, spend tokens on the shop second, and only then think about E2 or pulls.

Pal Tamer, version 1.0.5 shipped only two fixes, but read alongside the 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 balance passes, the late-game tech order looks nothing like it did at the 1.0 launch. The Aquatic Construction Kit dropped from tech level 66 to 23 and its Ancient Technology Point cost fell from 4 to 1, while the Jetragon-related tech dropped from level 79 to 70. This guide orders the line as unlock, then speed up, then save materials.
