In late October, miHoYo unveiled the launch roadmap for its upcoming title Star Valley. On October 30, the studio announced that the life-simulation game would make its global debut on December 4, rolling out first on PC, iOS and Android. Then on the evening of November 1, further confirmation arrived: the game is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, giving players who enjoy casual “farming on the go” a new platform to look forward to.
Unlike Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail, combat is not the core gameplay loop of Star Valley. Instead, it grants players a small planet to nurture and build at their own pace. Players take on the role of a Star Planter, who travels to the stellar sea alongside Oumomo, a star spirit. They plant Luka seeds on the planet, and as the Luka tree matures, the surrounding landscape and ecosystem evolve right along with it.
There is no shortage of casual activities for daily play. For a quiet, solo experience, players can tend to farm plots, go fishing, forage along the shoreline, cook meals, or spend time decorating their home. For more social play, they can sail to other star islets and meet up with friends at the Starlight Bazaar. The officially showcased Star Blueprint feature also helps players customize and arrange their scenes however they like. Rather than pushing players to grind for progression or clear dungeons, the game is designed to let players tend to their own virtual life at a leisurely pace.
Per the current schedule, the PC and mobile versions will launch first on December 4, with pre-download available starting December 1. Beyond official distribution channels, the PC version will also be available on the Epic Games Store. All three launch platforms support cross-save, so players can pick up right where they left off on mobile when switching to PC. Pre-registrations are now open, with corresponding milestone rewards available for all players.
The announcement of a Switch 2 version adds another natural platform for the title. For a laid-back life-simulation game focused on casual management, a handheld console is a perfect fit: players can tend to their garden or do a quick fishing run without having to sit down at a desk. That said, the studio has only shared a 2027 launch window with no specific release date, and there is no official word yet on whether the console version will support cross-save with other platforms.
The update has also reminded many players of Genshin Impact. miHoYo first announced plans for a Switch version of Genshin Impact back in 2020, but the title has never received an official launch. Now that Star Valley has been confirmed for Switch 2 first, comment sections are naturally filled with players asking for updates on Genshin Impact’s progress. Whether the console version of Star Valley will launch as planned remains to be verified by future gameplay demos.
With just over a month to go until launch, Star Valley’s laid-back premise looks appealing on paper, but its long-term staying power will ultimately depend on the depth and replay value of its content. When the game goes live on December 4, players will get to plant their first plot of land and cast their first fishing line — and that firsthand experience will say far more than any trailer ever could.
