Version 4.6 went live on September 28 and ends November 11 at 06:00, and it adds two Cavern Relic sets: “Dreamstar Balladeer” and “Forbidden Fruit Heretic”. Whether Pearl turns out to be half a character or the core of an entire archetype comes down to how you wear these two sets. Get it wrong and you lose half her value on the spot.
That missing half usually comes from three mistakes: the wrong relic set, substats rolled the wrong way, and extra turns handed to the wrong teammate. These three have been the most-asked questions all week, and the advice floating around online gets messier by the day. Rather than collect a dozen half-answers, read this through once and you will know exactly where your resources should go.

4.6 at a Glance: Three Dates, 600 Stellar Jade
Banners first. 4.6's new five-star is Pearl (Elation · Ice), and her signature light cone “Colors for Tomorrow (Elation)” is available from the Light Cone Event Warp “Brilliant Fixation: Colors for Tomorrow”.
Three dates are worth memorizing: the version itself ends November 11 at 06:00, the second-half warp closes November 10 at 15:00, and Nameless Honor stops selling November 9 at 03:59. The three are only a day or two apart, so they blur together easily. Do not shrug at those two days either, because sometimes that is the entire gap between pulling her and watching from the sidelines.
Last, the freebies. The downtime compensation and the bug-fix compensation are 300 Stellar Jade each, 600 in total, and anyone who reached Trailblaze Level 4 before September 28 at 06:00 can claim both. If you are planning to pull Pearl, leaving that 600 on the table makes no sense.
Get the dates right and everything else follows. Next, what she actually does once she is on the team.
How Pearl Works: Where the Kudos Go
Pearl's core resource is “Kudos”, which you can think of as the prize money in her pocket. Spend Kudos and she blocks one hit for the whole team; her Ultimate advances an ally's action, and when the conditions line up that ally takes a full extra turn and brings back a pile of punchlines and Kudos along the way; on top of all that, she heals the team and cleanses debuffs.
Damage blocking, action advance, healing and cleansing, all three at once, which means one slot does the work of both a sustain and a tempo unit, and she ranks near the top of HSR character tier lists as well. So her value is not in her damage numbers but in “how many extra rotations her teammates get”. A beautiful crit spread on her sheet will not raise your team's damage by a single point.
Build her as a damage dealer and you walk straight into the most common trap. The correct read is this: every hit she blocks is one more full damage window for the team. Pouring the same resources into crit stats means throwing away the multiplier she actually scales with. Once you understand what she wants, your build almost cannot go wrong.

Build: Relics, Light Cone and Stats, Just Copy This
| Relic Set | 2-Piece | 4-Piece | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dreamstar Balladeer | SPD +6% | When using a Skill or Ultimate on another single ally, that target's Elation rises by 16% for 3 turns; while Kudos ≥ 10, all allies' CRIT DMG +12% for 3 turns | Pearl herself and Elation supports |
| Forbidden Fruit Heretic | CRIT DMG +16% | Basic ATK DMG +36%; after using a Basic ATK, ATK +20% for 2 turns | Elation damage dealers |
Two New Relic Sets, and Only One Is for Pearl
The 4-piece Balladeer triggers on “using a Skill or Ultimate on another single ally”, which is exactly Pearl's skill pattern. The 4-piece Heretic needs a Basic ATK to trigger, and Pearl does not make her living off basic attacks, so putting a basic-attack set on her means the 4-piece does nothing.
Do not sleep on speed either. If she is going to advance her teammates, she has to get moving first. The 2-piece's 6% SPD is a real gain, and the 4-piece's 12% team CRIT DMG is team-wide value, so take both.
With the relics settled, the light cone is easy.

Light Cone: Signature First, but Not Mandatory
Her signature “Colors for Tomorrow (Elation)” comes first, since every bit of its value is built around the Elation archetype. If you would rather not pull it, look for a same-Path light cone that buffs the whole team or restores energy, and check the exact numbers in game. An E0S0 Pearl still gets the job done; the signature is a bonus, not a passing grade.
Light cone done, on to stats.
Stats: Crit Is Dead Weight on Her
Body takes HP% or DEF%, Feet takes SPD, Planar Sphere takes HP% or DEF%, and Link Rope takes Energy Regeneration Rate, the standard spread for any defensive unit. Pearl gets nothing from crit, so crit substats are entirely dead rolls for her. If you cannot bear to reroll a double-crit piece, you may never roll a Balladeer set you are happy with.
Team Building: Three Elation Setups and How to Pick
| Team | Composition | Rotation |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Elation | Pearl + Elation main DPS + buffer + backup healer | Pearl shields → buffer buffs → main DPS bursts |
| Double Sustain | Pearl + Elation main DPS + damage reducer + buffer | Two layers of mitigation stacked, good for high difficulty |
| No-Healer | Pearl + three damage dealers | Pearl's healing and cleanse replace the healer slot |
No Healer, Can It Really Clear?
In Pearl HSR team recommendations she heals the whole team and cleanses debuffs, so a low-investment account can use her in place of a healer and free that slot for a second damage dealer. The trade-off is a thinner margin for error: once someone gets locked down, there is no one to save them. You are trading safety for a slot, and whether to take that bet depends on how clean your play is. Once the team is set, the order of actions matters too.

Who Gets the Extra Turn
Give the extra turn from her Ultimate to whoever has the highest burst on the team, never to Pearl herself. Handing it to the wrong target throws away a full turn. Anyone who has run high-difficulty content knows what that turn is worth. With the team settled, it is time to budget your pulls and your Trailblaze Power.
Resources: Character First or Light Cone First?
| Item | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Character pity | 90 / 180 pulls | A 5-star is guaranteed at 90 pulls, with a 50% chance to be the featured unit |
| Light cone pity | 80 / 160 pulls | Rules of the Light Cone Event Warp |
| Relics | 4-piece Balladeer + 2-piece SPD off-set | Complete the set before rerolling substats |
| Trace materials | Scales with character and Trace level | Check in-game requirements |
Order by “Can She Get a Slot?”
GameHub's resource tables have always ranked by “can this unit get into a team” rather than by stat sheet. Pearl's priority order is: the character herself > 4-piece Balladeer > signature light cone > maxed Traces. Without the character, the last three are worth zero.
So, character first or light cone first? The answer is unambiguous: the character. A light cone means nothing without her, and once you have her, a four-star same-Path cone will carry you through the interim. You are not going to leave a signature light cone sitting in your inventory waiting for its owner. Pulls settled, the next question is where the Trailblaze Power goes.

Farm Balladeer First, Fill the Gaps Later
Farm the 4-piece Balladeer first, then fill in the Planar Sphere and Link Rope. Cavern of Corrosion: Hidden Balladeer's Path is 4.6's new stage, and both new sets drop there. Do not agonize over substats on day one; chasing perfect rolls before the set is even complete is just volunteering for frustration.
Should You Pull? Three Accounts, Three Answers
Straight answer: an account missing a sustain is worth an E0S0, and an account that already has a strong sustain can skip her. Three cases: an Elation team without a reliable sustain, pull, she is the best answer inside the archetype; two or more strong sustains already, skip, the slot overlaps; collecting for the archive only, E0S0 is enough and no light cone is needed.
As I said at the top, a bad build leaves her at half value. Now you know how to get that half back: Balladeer on the relics, only survival and speed on the stats, extra turns to the teammate with the highest burst. Recover that half and her strength shows up as damage your teammates deal for you. As for whether those 90 pulls are worth committing, the decision is not that hard after all.

Honkai: Star Rail 4.6 Pearl FAQ
Is Pearl a damage dealer or a support?
A: A defensive unit. She spends Kudos to block damage for the whole team, her Ultimate advances an ally's action, and she also heals and cleanses.
Who wears Balladeer, and who wears Heretic?
A: Pearl wears Dreamstar Balladeer; Elation damage dealers wear Forbidden Fruit Heretic. Balladeer triggers off Skill and Ultimate, while Heretic triggers off Basic ATK.
When does 4.6 end?
A: The version ends November 11 at 06:00, and the second-half warp closes November 10 at 15:00.
Is E0S0 enough?
A: Yes. She is a sustain and tempo unit, and the signature light cone improves team buffs and rotation stability, so consider E0S1 only if your budget is comfortable.
Can you run her without a healer?
A: Yes. Pearl heals the whole team and removes debuffs, so she can replace the healer and open a slot for a second damage dealer, at the cost of a thinner margin for error.
Latest HSR character ranking places Pearl in the sustain and tempo category, not among damage dealers.
Pearl wears Balladeer rather than Heretic because her skill pattern is “using a Skill or Ultimate on another single ally”, while the Heretic line needs a Basic ATK to trigger.
