Genshin Impact 7.1 Visner Guide: Stellar Swirl Teams and Abyss

Genshin Impact 7.1 Overview: Who Visner and Voyanissa Are

Version 7.1 began rolling out on 23 September 2026 at 06:00 and was expected to take five hours. Update compensation and bug-fix compensation are 300 Primogems each, for a total of 600, and both go to Travelers at Adventure Rank 5 or higher before the update.

The two new characters in official wording

Visner: Stellar Wedge Anemo, Sword, 5-star, commander of the Winter Pact army and the Tsaritsa's blade. The official line that matters: she lets the team trigger Stellar Swirl and, under certain conditions, deals Stellar Swirl reaction damage.

Voyanissa: Hydro Vision, Catalyst, 5-star, principal soprano of the Korolevsky Theatre. Officially described as a Hydro character who handles both healing and support in Freeze and Stellar Swirl teams.

Which one to take

They are not substitutes. Visner is the damage end of Stellar Swirl; Voyanissa is the piece that turns the reaction into a functioning team.

Genshin Impact 7.1 Weapons: Butterfly Change and Chant of Whirlpools

The version shipped two 5-star limited weapons and three 4-stars, all aimed at converting Stellar Swirl and Freeze into value.

Sword: Butterfly Change

Each time the wielder casts an Elemental Skill or Burst, they gain one of three effects in sequence: Crit DMG up, Stellar Swirl reaction damage up, or Elemental Energy restored. The effects are removed and the order resets when the wielder leaves the field. Something in the rotation has to absorb the "leaves the field" cost, so short-field-time play gets more out of it.

Catalyst: Chant of Whirlpools and 4-star alternatives

The weapon grants Healing Bonus and, when healing, raises Max HP and boosts the current on-field character's ATK based on the wielder's Max HP; nearby party members triggering Freeze or Stellar Swirl increases both effects further, and they still trigger from off-field. It is an explicitly support-shaped stat line: your carry's ATK rises because the weapon exists.

On 4-stars, New Bough (Sword) shifts to boosting Stellar reaction damage and ATK while the wielder is in the Stellar Radiance state. Softwind Resonant Bow raises Energy Recharge and, when Skill or Burst hits, raises Stellar reaction damage for all nearby party members. Snowdrift Heart (Catalyst) scales Elemental Mastery or ATK by the number of Cryo and Electro characters in the party. With limited resources, a team-wide weapon like the bow is worth more than a single-character upgrade.

Genshin Impact 7.1 Spiral Abyss: Why Floor 12 Buffs Stellar

The Abyss refresh for this cycle lands on 16 October. Everything below is taken from the official notice rather than recycled from the previous rotation.

Ley Line Disorders and the blessing

Floor 11: all party members gain 60% Anemo DMG Bonus and 60% Cryo DMG Bonus.
Floor 12: first half raises Stellar reaction damage by 75%; second half grants all party members 75% Cryo DMG Bonus.
Blessing of the Abyssal Moon, "Star-Shocking Moon": triggering Superconduct, Stellar Superconduct, Cryo Swirl, Stellar Swirl, Freeze or Shatter, and dealing Stellar Superconduct or Stellar Swirl damage, releases a shockwave at the enemy's position dealing True DMG, up to once every 2 seconds .

Team direction

Floor 11's double 60% bonuses are a green light for Anemo and Cryo teams, while Floor 12's first half explicitly pays for Stellar reactions. Visner's value is that she makes the Stellar Swirl chain exist, which is what converts the 75% bonus and the blessing's True DMG into real numbers. A True DMG shockwave every two seconds is the hidden payoff on long fights.

Genshin Impact 7.1 Boss: Cracking the Ice Coffin

The new 7.1 enemy, Guardian Blade of the Drifting Snow, sits in the Frostplague Peak region, and its mechanic matters more than its stat line.

The ice coffin

Officially: below a certain HP threshold the boss seals itself in an Ice Coffin and periodically deals AoE Cryo damage nearby. The coffin becomes fragile under the effect of Stellar reactions and breaks more easily to Electro or Anemo attacks. If it survives, the boss heals part of its HP and conjures ice blades to counterattack; if it breaks, the boss enters a weakened period.

How to play it

Do not dump your burst at the moment the HP bar drops. Hold an Electro or Anemo damage window for the coffin, because breaking it is the real damage gain of the fight. Fail to break it and you hand back free healing.

Genshin Impact 7.1 Imaginarium Theater and Quests

Imaginarium Theater rotation

The first rotation opens 1 October with Hydro, Cryo and Anemo as the restricted elements, and opening characters including Neuvillette, Barbara, Citlali, Kaeya, Wanderer and Brunnie. The second opens 1 November with Hydro, Electro and Geo, where Visner appears as a special guest.

Story unlocks

Archon Quest Chapter VII Act III, "White Night as a Dream Awakening", and Act IV, "Requiem to the Underworld", are permanently available after the 7.1 update, requiring Adventure Rank 18 and completion of prior acts. World quests are open alongside them, and one of them also requires Sanctum of the Tide's Cave .

Genshin Impact FAQ

Q1: Is Visner a carry or a support?
A: Officially an Anemo damage character whose core function is letting the team trigger Stellar Swirl and deal Stellar Swirl damage. She is the damage end of that team.

Q2: Can Voyanissa lead a team by herself?
A: She is officially positioned as a Hydro character handling healing and support in Freeze and Stellar Swirl teams. She covers survival and buffs, not main damage.

Q3: What are the Abyss Floor 11 and 12 disorders?
A: Floor 11 gives all members 60% Anemo DMG and 60% Cryo DMG. Floor 12 gives first half +75% Stellar reaction damage and second half +75% Cryo DMG. Refresh is 16 October.

Q4: How often does the Abyssal Moon blessing trigger?
A: On triggering Superconduct, Stellar Superconduct, Cryo Swirl, Stellar Swirl, Freeze or Shatter, or dealing Stellar Superconduct or Stellar Swirl damage, a shockwave deals True DMG. Limit once every 2 seconds.

Q5: How do I stop the new boss from healing?
A: Save an Electro or Anemo window for the Ice Coffin. It is fragile under Stellar reactions; if you fail to break it, the boss heals and counterattacks.

Come discuss in the Gghubs comments.

Genshin Impact Action Checklist

  1. Pull by gap, not by hype: Visner if you need damage, Voyanissa if you need survival and buffs.
  2. Choose a 5-star weapon by field time: Butterfly Change for short field time, Chant of Whirlpools for a support slot.
  3. Give the party the 4-star bow when resources are tight; team-wide Stellar bonuses beat single-character gains.
  4. Build for the 16 October Abyss: Anemo and Cryo on Floor 11, Stellar on Floor 12 first half.
  5. Hold an Electro or Anemo window for the Ice Coffin so the boss never gets its heal.
