Honkai: Star Rail 4.5 Aventurine Waveflair Build Guide

Version 4.5 shipped two SP characters: Robin•Sunny Song in the first half, and Aventurine•Waveflair in the second half from September 12 to September 27, with a rerun of Undying Path alongside him. His design is unusual: he does not charge his own burst, he burns the team's attack count as fuel, so the more your teammates act, the more often he fires.

Honkai: Star Rail 4.5 overview: banners and events

Version 4.5 went live after maintenance on 26 August 2026, opening the Thousand-Star City chapter with three new areas: the central district, the Pointer Tower and the Hollow Sound Court .

Banner schedule

The first half ran 26 August to 12 September with Robin•Sunny Song plus a Windveil rerun. The second half runs 12 September to 27 September with Aventurine•Waveflair plus an Undying Path rerun, and his signature 5-star Light Cone arrived at the same time. As of 20 September his banner is inside that second-half window.

Where the free resources are

The patch's headline event, Overdrive: Whirlwind Grand Prix, is a racing mode that pays out Self-Modeling Resin, Tracks of Destiny, Stellar Jade, and the free 4-star Light Cone Race to the Horizon. The Gift of Odyssey seven-day login hands out 10 Star Rail Special Passes, and Divergent Universe's new season adds newspaper tasks that pay Stellar Jade and Relic Remains. Those rewards decide how many Relic runs you get for him.

Honkai: Star Rail Aventurine•Waveflair kit: Heat and punchlines

He is described as a DPS who links with the whole team's attack count and can cast Elation Skills frequently. Team attacks grant him heat and punchlines; based on his Fervor count he casts extra Elation Skills and empowers his next Aha moment, and casting an empowered Elation Skill consumes Fervor for higher damage.

Generating and spending Heat

Heat comes from teammates' attack actions rather than his own turns. Team action frequency therefore equals his resource generation: multi-action teams with frequent follow-up attacks keep him topped up, while slow high-multiplier teams visibly stall his rotation.

Empowered Elation Skills

Empowered Elation Skills spend Heat for more damage and also empower the next Aha moment. His damage curve is not flat, so banking Heat before spending beats firing everything on cooldown.

Honkai: Star Rail Aventurine•Waveflair stats: the 140 Speed gate and Crit DMG

His three bonus abilities state their numbers outright, so work backwards from them instead of guessing.

Bonus ability one: 140 Speed is mandatory

Blissful Party raises his Elation degree by 30% when Speed is at least 140, then adds 1% for every point of Speed above that, counting up to 200 excess points. That turns Speed from an optional stat into a hard gate: hit 140 with Speed boots and sub stats before anything else.

Bonus ability three: 48% Crit DMG, doubled for the team

Old Dream's Gold Rush grants 48% Crit DMG. After a teammate uses a Basic Attack, Skill, follow-up attack or Ultimate, the whole team gains 48% Crit DMG for 3 turns and Aventurine•Waveflair gains 2 extra Fervor, triggering up to 6 times and resetting when he uses his Skill. He therefore starts with a healthy Crit DMG base, wants more of it, and needs teammates who act often enough to use all six triggers.

Bonus ability two: whether a second Elation unit is present

Revel in Surging Waves splits two ways. If another Elation-path character is in the team at combat start, the whole team gains 20% Elation degree and he gains an extra 80%. If he is the only Elation character, his Elation Skill damage counts as a follow-up attack. The second branch changes the damage type flags, which matters for Relic sets and teammates that key off follow-up attacks.

Honkai: Star Rail Aventurine•Waveflair teams and rotation

One rule governs the team: the more often teammates act, the better, ideally while adding team-wide buffs.

Team Composition Role split Notes
Elation mutual-buff Aventurine•Waveflair + Undying Path + Qiangye Blade + Huohuo Three team-wide buffers stack each other, Huohuo covers survival Fits modifiers such as 40% Elation degree and 20% Elation damage penetration
Solo Elation DPS Aventurine•Waveflair + fast-acting teammates on other paths Triggers the follow-up attack classification, keeps Heat self-sufficient The general answer without a second Elation unit
Survival-leaning Aventurine•Waveflair + shield or healer Longer field time means more turns of Heat Safer against heavy incoming damage

Why the mutual-buff lineup

In the Ashveil + Mortenax Blade + Aventurine • Waveflair + Huohuo lineup, three characters carry team-wide buffs and amplify each other while Huohuo handles survival. Under an environment granting 40% Elation degree and 20% Elation damage penetration, this squad stacks character buffs and stage buffs together.

Rotation mistakes to avoid

  1. Stacking Crit DMG before reaching 140 Speed, which forfeits the 30% Elation degree from bonus ability one.
  2. Using only slow teammates so Heat never accumulates and empowered Elation Skills stall.
  3. Spending Elation Skills on cooldown instead of banking Heat first.
  4. Ignoring the follow-up attack classification when he is the only Elation character.

Honkai: Star Rail Aventurine•Waveflair priority table

Priority Item Why
High 140 Speed Bonus ability one needs Speed at least 140 for the 30% Elation degree
High Crit DMG stats He already has a 48% Crit DMG base, so more scales directly
High Fast-acting teammates Heat comes from team attacks, so action frequency is resource generation
Medium Signature 5-star Light Cone Shipped alongside him, lower priority than the Speed gate and team setup
Medium Qiangye Blade, Undying Path They complete the mutual-buff Elation squad
Low Slow high-multiplier teams Too few actions starves the Heat loop
